QSP
THE SCOOP ON PUBLISHER COUPONS!
- Any magazine that includes advertising has to have its circulation
verified by an auditor. In plain English, this means publishers who
supply magazines insist that subscriptions be sold at "list price"
and not discounted (e.g., with coupons)
- Publishers might have "looked the other way" in the past,
but now watch that all companies sell only at the price shown in a published
catalog - no coupons allowed
- Major publishers have vowed to stop doing business with any company
accepting coupons. The list includes
- Time Inc. -- the biggest single supplier of magazines to QSP AND
the publishers of Time, People, Sports Illustrated and 32 other
magazines
- Reader's Digest/Reiman - supplier of Reader's Digest, Everyday
with Rachael Ray, Taste of Home, The Family Handyman, and 12 other
magazines
- If another company promises to accept coupons, BEWARE! They are doing
so against the magazine publishers' wishes. Your groups' subscriptions
may not be honored by the publisher.
- QSP constantly compares the prices in its catalogs to the prices publishers
charge at newsstand, through direct mail, and through other special
offers. We make sure that QSP prices are in line with what your customers
will see. If they are not, we go directly to the publishers and push
for change.
- Do you see a substantially better price frequently offered in your
community? Let us know. Because of our size and our close, long relationships
with publishers, we can often convince publishers to match the offer.
